ABOUT THE JOB
Tenenbaum Jewelers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company and providing accurate and timely financial reports. This Controller reports directly to the CFO and also works closely with the CEO/Owner. Tenenbaum Jewelers has retail locations in both Houston and San Antonio and the Controller position would be based from the San Antonio office.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We seek a passionate and experienced financial professional to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring our organization's strong financial stability and health. The Controller will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, crafting and implementing policies and procedures with an eye for detail and possess excellent analytical skills.
They should also have strong organizational skills, vision, passion, and leadership abilities to maintain and enhance Tenenbaum Jeweler’s positive reputation in the San Antonio and Houston communities as well as nationally. The Controller will be privy to confidential information and must ensure that information is dealt with in the strictest confidence and discretion.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage all aspects of the company's financial operations, including general ledger reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation
- Prepare and analyze financial statements
- Adhere to financial policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and internal controls
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes as well as provide required financial documents as requested
- Compile data for the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations
- Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies - Provide guidance and training on financial concepts and best practices as necessary
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and changes in accounting standards and perform tasks as assigned/requested
Requirements include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Quickbooks, or similar platforms
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
