Job Description :
House Managers are responsible for ensuring the function and appearance of the house meet the standards set forth by the organization, supervising the daily responsibilities of the guests, managing inventory and organization of house supplies, maintaining files and documentation for the position, and assisting with case work as requested or assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
· Supervise the regular functioning of the shelter.
· Assist with new guest intake. This includes setting up bunks, providing a bed bag, giving a tour of the house, running background checks, ensuring all rules and expectations have been explained, assisting with additional needs. House Managers will facilitate the full intake of guests in the absence of the Case Manager.
· Inspection of materials being brought into the shelter by guests, visitors, and volunteers as necessary.
· Ensure completion of assigned chores; all guests are expected to see to the upkeep of their living space, as well as contribute equally to the upkeep of the communal spaces in and around the shelter.
· Encourage and remind guests of their expectations, and helping guests during their stay.
· Manage guests and visitors in the event of a significant violation or threat, recording such incidents in the Daily Log, and notifying your supervisor, Case Manager, and/or police as necessary.
· Completing an Incident Report and Critical Incident Reports within the first 24 hours after the incident.
· Recording activities in the Daily Log.
· Supervise guests’ medication procedure and maintain medication records.
· Perform drug and alcohol screens upon intake and as needed.
· Maintain a clean, orderly, and functioning housing area. This includes maintenance as needed and to skill level.
· Maintain inventory of house supplies, building supplies, and other items needed in the day-to-day operations of the shelter.
· Provide transportation to guests for appointments, work, or other approved destinations.
· Conduct monthly fire drills.
· Distribute food boxes as needed and maintain proper documentation.
· Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
· Attend staff meetings, and work with other staff as a team to address concerns, problems, and issues of the guests and shelter operations, and provide reports as requested.
· Conduct house meetings as needed or assigned.
· Support and direct volunteers as necessary.
· Some clerical duties, such as paperwork, filing, etc.
· Report directly to the Lead House Manager.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
· High school graduate or equivalent
· Valid driver’s license
· 2+ years work experience working with people, management experience a plus
· Maintenance and cleaning experience a plus (please provider applicable certifications)
Skills :
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Thorough understanding of computer basics, including Microsoft Office
· Displays professional and ethical behavior
· Displays strong sense of teamwork and organizational skills
· Ability to manage guests with respect and sensitivity to their circumstances
· Ability to prioritize daily responsibilities and multitask
· Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals presenting a variety of needs and limitations
· Must be comfortable working with the homeless population
· Attendance and completion of various professional trainings as requested
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
