FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Network Support Specialist. Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. JOB SUMMARY:

The Network Support Specialist will ensure the stable operation of the enterprise computer network and implement and/or facilitate the initiatives of Chief Information Officer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all network hardware, software and communication links Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs Develop, implement, and maintain the policies and procedures for network resource administration and disaster recovery Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services Implement other job duties as directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely related field; equivalent training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICCATIONS

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Network + Certification in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Cisco Networking experience.
